Plot Summary:'When Mia, a young woman and resistance supporter, is forced to share her home with a German solider during Belgium's occupation, the two begin to form an unlikely friendship'\n\nAugust, 1944 Mia, 20, lives in a small town in Flanders, Belgium with her aunt and teaches at the local primary school. Het village has been occupied by the Germans for a few years now. The German army claimed several buildings as their own to house their soldiers and administrative people. They also use private houses to shelter their soldiers. Mia has been supporting her aunt to covertly spread pamphlets for the resistance, praying for their liberation.\n\nMia fears their safety has been threatened when German solider, Friedrich (19), is assigned a spare room in their house by the army but over time they learn that they each have something they can offer the other. Friedrich, homesick and alienated, is eager to learn Dutch from Mia, whilst Mia is passionate about learning to draw from the artistic Friedrich.\n\nOver the following weeks Mia and Friedrich develop an unlikely friendship. Working in hushed whispers during the darkened hours they build a bond of trust and compassion, recognising their similarities and overcoming their differences.\n\nBut when reality comes crashing down, the cruelty of war looms over them both, forcing Friedrich to confront his loyalty to his friend or his country.\n\n'Mia' was a Graduate Project filmed in the summer of 2022 by some of the students at MetFilm School London.\n\nDirected by Emma Koch, Written by Nasreen Hajat and Produced by Amie Page
